Matthew Chapter 23

Is there anyone out there, besides me, who lived a double life? Don’t think about that question too long. Before we go too far down that trail, I’m only saying that at times my behavior has been situational. I was a perfectly compliant child at school, but when I got home…(All bets were OFF)!

Here in this chapter, Jesus is harshly criticizing the religious leaders. But as I read it, I cannot help but ask, “Have I done the things those leaders were guilty of?” I’m caught remembering all the times either my sisters or I would point out behaviors and say, “Oh, you’re gonna get IT—when Dad or Mom find out!” Here’s where we need to take a lesson from the word of God and realize, “Dad, (Father God) already KNOWS!”

If/when we find ourselves saying, “I’d NEVER do that”, according to this chapter we declare our own guilt. The only hope is forgiveness through repentance.

Lord, change me!
