This chapter brings me to tears. Jesus, empowered with ALL AUTHORITY, washes the feet of the disciples. Yet, He says, “I’m not talking to all of you.” If that statement doesn’t cause us to pause and reflect on our relationship to Christ, what will it take?

There is so much in this chapter to unpack, “Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end. … Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. … “I am not saying these things to all of you; I know the ones I have chosen. But this fulfills the Scripture that says, ‘The one who eats my food has turned against me.’” (‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬, ‭3‬, ‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

In Matthew’s gospel Jesus was revealed as the Son of God. Here in Mark’s gospel Jesus is being revealed as the Son of Man. In the gospel of your life, have you discovered the unity within Christ? Note of caution: He is not two halves of one whole!

Are you comfortable enough in the authority of Christ to serve?

Are we the ones that Christ has chosen?
