What makes Christmas, “Christmas” for you — meetings with angels, shepherds and a manger, visits from wise men, or an escape into Egypt? These opening chapters of the New Testament focus our attention on the miraculous hand of God as He unfolds the plan of salvation.
In our reading today, each piece of the story shows us how intimately involved God has been in human lives throughout history. The phrase, “This fulfilled what God had spoken” repeatedly appears. As we reflect on the events of the first Christmas are we drawn to the epiphany that God is fulfilling what He had spoken in our lives?
Lord, Jesus, speak to us in dreams and visions. Bring out the prophetic gifts through us, and multiply our gifts of service. Allow us to live in the miraculous!
